Capt. Hon. William French was born on 15 Mar 1603 in Halstead, Essex, England to Thomas French (1562 - 1613) and Anne Olmstead (1566 - 1624) and died on 20 Nov 1681 at Billerica, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, North America. On 20 Nov 1682 he was inventory was written down. He married on 20 Nov 1631 in Halstead, Essex County, England to Elizabeth Symms (1605 - 1668). She was born in 1605 in England and died on 31 Mar 1668 in Billerica, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, North America.

Facts and Occupation[]

In 1635 he immigrated from England on the ship Defense and on 2 Oct 1635 landed in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, North America. In 1652 He was one of the original proprietors of Billercia, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, North America with a grant of land of 25 of 150 acres in the Shawshine grant, making him one of the founders of Billercia. In about 1655 he held the rank and position of Captain in the militia. In 1659 he became Deacon and was also chosen a Commissioner to establish country rates. In 1660 he was elected a Selectman which he held until 1669. In 1661 he was on a Committee to examine children and servants in reading, religion and catechism. He was elected the 1st Deputy of Billercia to the Massachusetts General Court.
